IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ARTISTS

• The Art from the Heart exhibition will be held on November 20th and 21st, 2009 at Magnus Eliason Recreation Centre (MERC), 430 Langside Street. The opening will take place on Friday, November 20th from 7-9 pm. Saturday hours are 10:30 am-4 pm. Exhibiting artists are strongly encouraged to be present at the show to answer questions and speak with potential buyers.
• Art must be dropped off on Thursday October 22 between 6 and 8 or Saturday October 24th between 12 and 4 pm at St. Matthews-Maryland Community Ministry, 641 St. Matthews Avenue (McGee Street entrance). If you have any questions/concerns or if you need to make special arrangements, please contact Karen Schlichting in advance.
• Two-dimensional work (flat pieces for the wall) should be submitted in a hang-able format (eg. on a solid backing such as foam core and/or with a matt/frame around it). Each piece of artwork must be clearly labeled with your name, the title, price and medium used for the work. Video shorts up to ten minutes maximum will be accepted.
• When pricing your art, remember that no one but you can put a value on your work. Follow your instincts. If you are unsure, consider how long the piece took to make and how much your materials cost. At past exhibits, smaller pieces ranging in price from $10 to $150 were more likely to sell. Do not let that discourage you from submitting larger, more expensive works, however.
• Artwork must be picked up after the show, on Saturday, November 21nd, 4 pm at MERC. Artwork must remain in the exhibit for the duration of the show and cannot be removed prior to 4 pm, Saturday.
• Artwork that is purchased will be marked “sold” and will remain in the exhibit for the duration of the show. Buyers will be asked to return at 4 pm, Saturday to pick up their artwork. Artists will receive 100% of revenue from the sale of their work, paid in cash or cheque at the end of the show.
