TARA DAVIS

Tara was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1977. She attended the Ontario College of Art and Design from 2000 – 2004 majoring in Industrial Design. While studying there, she served as a Student Representative on the Board of Governors and Academic Council. Tara received the Industrial Design Faculty Award, the Design Innovation Award and achieved honors throughout. She is currently working as a fiber artist focusing on weaving. Utilizing various fibers and found objects Tara makes bags, scarves and mixed media pieces. Drawing on the ancient tradition of quilt making she brings a contemporary style to her art. Tara uses weaving in both a traditional sense creating scarves and tapestries and explores non-traditional materials to produce works in a neo-abstract expressionist style.
